Saint Lucia Fire Service Reports on 2024 Emergency Calls and Reaffirms Commitment to Public Safety

As the year comes to a close, the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) has conducted a comprehensive review of all emergency calls received in 2024. These incidents have been categorized into four primary response areas: Fire Emergencies, Medical Calls, Trauma Cases, and Non-Emergencies. The data highlights the SLFS’s continued commitment to community safety and emergency response efficiency.

Emergency Response Statistics for 2024:

Fire Emergencies: 727 calls

This category includes house, industrial, and commercial fires, as well as bush fires, electrical and pole fires, vehicle fires, coal pit fires, smoke disturbances, and smoke alarm activations.

Medical Calls: 7,434 calls

These involve critical medical emergencies such as cardiac arrests, respiratory issues, and other urgent health concerns requiring immediate attention.

Trauma Calls: 2,211 calls

This category covers incidents related to physical trauma, including accidents, falls, and violence-related injuries.

Non-Emergencies: 3,195 calls

These include public assistance requests, minor investigations, and safety inspections that did not require immediate fire or medical intervention.

In total, the Saint Lucia Fire Service managed 12,839 emergency calls in 2024, reflecting the broad range of community needs and the SLFS’s essential role in public safety.
