On Monday, December 16, 2024, about 12:10 p.m., police officers attached to the Drug Unit, in conjunction with the Customs and Excise Department, interdicted a quantity of suspected cannabis in a consignment at the Vigie Cargo Shed in Castries.

A routine inspection of imported items led to the discovery of packages containing green plant material, totaling sixty-six pounds (66 lbs). Initial inquiries led to the detention of one (1) male suspect; however, he was released pending further investigation.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) continued its efforts into the New Year, with another seizure of controlled drugs, a firearm, and ammunition on Wednesday, January 1, 2024. This discovery followed prompt action by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Gros Islet, after receiving a report of an assault.

A Warrant to Search for Property was executed on the premises of a male suspect in Cas En Bas, Gros-Islet, resulting in the discovery of a 9mm pistol, twenty-two rounds (22) of 9mm ammunition, one 5.56mm round, two hundred and eighty-nine (289) packages containing cocaine.

At the time of the raid, the premises were occupied by another male, who was also arrested. Charges are expected to be laid.
