CASTRIES, SAINT LUCIA – July 19, 2025 — A tragic shooting incident in Marchand has left two males dead and four others injured, triggering widespread concern and a renewed appeal from law enforcement for public cooperation.
According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), officers attached to the Marchand Police Station received a distress call at approximately 11:05 p.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, alerting them to a mass shooting along the Marchand Road.
Upon arrival, police discovered six victims. One of the victims, identified as Shawn Demille, a 50-year-old resident of Trou Rouge, Marchand, was pronounced dead on the scene by a medical practitioner. A second male, Kevin Ishmael, a 15-year-old of George Charles Boulevard, was transported via private means to the Owen King European Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The RSLPF has confirmed that four other individuals sustained injuries in the incident. Investigators have since launched an active probe into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are appealing to the public for any information that may assist in their inquiries. In a separate development, a joint police operation conducted on Wednesday, July 17, 2025, around 6:00 p.m. in the city led to the seizure of illegal narcotics and one arrest. The operation involved the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit, the Special Operations Team, and the Department of Road Safety and Investigations.
Authorities recovered 726 grams of Cannabis and 50 grams of Cannabis Resin, with an estimated street value of $29,540.
Additionally, on Friday, July 18, 2025, officers of the Special Services Unit (SSU), while on patrol along Micoud Street in Castries, apprehended a male suspect during a stop-and-search. The officers discovered a Glock .380 firearm and seven rounds of ammunition. The suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
