A man has been formally charged with murder following a fatal shooting in Micoud earlier this month.
On Saturday, January 17, 2026, about 11:30 a.m., police officers attached to the Micoud Police Station received reports of a shooting at La Tielle, Micoud. Officers responded and discovered the apparent lifeless body of a male at a residence in the area. The deceased was later identified as Jean Marie Joseph, also known as “Tobolo,” of La Tielle, Micoud.
A post-mortem examination was conducted on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, which determined that Joseph died as a result of neuromuscular shock due to traumatic brain injury.
On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Henaniah Joseph was formally charged with the offence of murder. He was subsequently taken before the Second District Court in Vieux Fort, where he was remanded to the Bordelais Correctional Facility.
