Police have seized more than 9,000 cannabis plants and arrested two men during a major operation in Garrand, Babonneau.
The joint exercise was carried out on September 24 by the Gangs, Narcotics and Firearms Unit (GNFU), the Special Operations Team (SOT), and the Central Intelligence Unit (CIU).
At the home and plantation of Kenny Akim Eleodore, officers destroyed 4,451 cannabis plants worth about EC$445,100 and recovered 45 pounds of dried cannabis valued at EC$45,000. Eleodore was arrested and charged with possession of controlled drugs, possession with intent to supply, and cultivation of controlled drugs.
A separate search at the residence of Glen Elijah Marius uncovered 23 pounds of cannabis valued at EC$23,000. Marius was charged with possession of controlled drugs and possession with intent to supply.
During the operation, police also destroyed another 4,905 cannabis plants.
Both men appeared before the First District Court on September 29. Eleodore was remanded in custody, while Marius was released on bail of EC$35,000.
Police said the operation was part of their ongoing efforts to disrupt the illegal drug trade.
