Must Read

(CASTRIES, SAINT LUCIA – July 23, 2025) – The streets of Castries exploded with rhythm, revelry, and resplendent costume displays as Lucian Carnival 2025 culminated in the electrifying Parade of the Bands on July 21st and 22nd. And once again, Tribe of Twel emerged victorious, securing the coveted title of Parade Band of the Year for the second consecutive year with their presentation “Bel Wad Ek Soulye.”

The Carnival Planning and Management Committee (CPMC) revealed the winners during a press briefing at the Bay Gardens Hotel on Wednesday morning, capping off the national celebrations with a detailed breakdown of results across both J’Ouvert and the Parade of the Bands.

Tribe of Twel also swept several other major categories, cementing their status as a powerhouse in the carnival scene. Their member Jordan Augier was crowned Individual of the Year with the portrayal “Unto Us a Child was Born,” earning 444 points. Fellow bandmate Sharon Tanner came in second with “Madam Vaval.”

In a surprising twist, the Best Portrayal of Theme category saw a tie for first place between Tribe of Twel and Xuvo Carnival, who both scored 131 points. Tribe of Twel’s “Bel Wad Ek Soulye” also earned them the title of Best Designed Band with a score of 133 points.

In the fiercely contested Mas on the Move category, Xuvo Carnival took top honors with their energetic portrayal “Isle of Angels,” just edging out Island Tribe’s “Cyborg.”

The spirit of carnival was alive and well in Just 4 Fun, who claimed the Spirit of Carnival award for their exuberant portrayal titled “Mas,” racking up an impressive 417 points.

Meanwhile, in the high-energy J’Ouvert parade, Back In Time Inc triumphed as J’Ouvert Band of the Year with their nostalgic and unifying portrayal “St. Lucia Carnival. A place for All.”

The 2025 Road March crown was captured by Dezral for the runaway hit “The Car,” which dominated the streets with 28 plays over the two-day parade, outperforming close competitors Ricky T & HP and Carlto.

Other notable highlights include:

Section of the Year was a shared victory between Xuvo’s “Angele – The Ghost of Mas Past” and Just 4 Fun’s “Rapture,” both scoring 79 points.

Kennedy “Boots” Samuel won Ole Mas with a humorous portrayal titled “Pee I Pee.”

As the curtains close on this year’s carnival, anticipation already builds for Lucian Carnival 2026, officially slated for July 1 – 22, 2026. If this year’s showcase is anything to go by, the cultural vibrancy and competitive flair of Saint Lucia’s carnival continue to grow stronger every year.
