As Saint Lucia’s carnival continues to evolve as a space of bold expression and national pride, one of the island’s leading bands, XUVO Carnival, stands tall with the unveiling of its 2025 portrayal: Isle of Angels, a radiant celebration of blessings, positive energy, and the essence of Saint Lucian culture.
This year’s season holds special meaning, not only because it marks XUVO’s fifth year on the road, but because of a groundbreaking moment in Saint Lucian Carnival history where for the first time ever, three senior members of a single band, siblings Lamar, Maier, and Jahn Sifflet, took the stage at the King and Queen of the Bands competition. The highly anticipated event, which was held at the SAB Playing Field in Vigie, was free to the public, and XUVO’s powerful showing underscored the band’s commitment to traditional mas, while fully embracing innovation, unity, and cultural excellence.
“Our portrayal this year speaks to the soul of who we are as a people, resilient, radiant, and blessed,” noted Maier Sifflet. “With Isle of Angels, we’re not just bringing costumes; we’re delivering an experience that uplifts, unites, and inspires pride in our Saint Lucian roots.”
She continued, “There’s an energy building around XUVO Carnival 2025 that’s unlike anything we’ve felt before. The excitement is real, the anticipation is high, and we’re coming out in numbers to celebrate Lucian Mas. Every year, we commit ourselves to raising the bar and this year is no different. It’s a continuous effort to redefine what carnival means for Saint Lucians at home and abroad.”
