A police-involved shooting incident unfolded in Fond Assau, Babonneau on Tuesday following a high-tension confrontation between officers and a suspect reportedly armed with a cutlass.

According to initial reports, the individual had earlier appeared at a location in Babonneau Clery while wielding the weapon, prompting an urgent call for police assistance. Upon officers’ arrival, the suspect fled the scene in a jeep, triggering a pursuit that led to Fond Assau.

Eyewitness accounts suggest the suspect, in a moment of apparent agitation, punched the dashboard of his vehicle, causing an injury to his hand that began bleeding. Despite his condition, the man reportedly refused to surrender the cutlass when approached by responding officers from the Babonneau Police Station.

In a sudden escalation, the suspect is said to have driven aggressively toward the officers. In response, police discharged a non-lethal bean bag round in an effort to neutralize the threat without fatal force.
