Fatal Boating Collision Claims Life of Anse La Raye Diver at Canaries Bay

SAINT LUCIA — A fatal boating incident off the coast of Canaries Bay on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, has claimed the life of Nelson James of Anse La Raye. According to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force, the Police Marine Unit responded to reports of a collision involving a vessel and a diver at approximately 1:49 p.m.

Upon arrival, authorities initiated an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. James was assessed and pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner. A post-mortem examination has been scheduled to determine the precise cause of death.

In response to the tragic event, the Police Marine Unit is urging all sea users to exercise heightened caution. The unit has also announced plans to roll out a public sensitization campaign aimed at promoting marine safety and preventing future accidents.
