A female suspect is now in police custody following a stabbing incident that occurred early Wednesday morning at the Massy Stores supermarket in Cul De Sac. Law enforcement officials confirmed the arrest in connection with the assault on 59-year-old Rosemary Francois.
Emergency responders were alerted to the scene around 7:49 a.m. after receiving a distress call reporting a physical assault. Personnel from the Fire Service Headquarters arrived by 7:58 a.m. and found Francois lying in a prone position. A nurse who was already attending to her had managed to stop the bleeding from a two-centimeter laceration to the back of her head.
Francois remained alert and conscious throughout. After a thorough on-site medical assessment revealed no additional injuries, she was able to walk unaided into the ambulance and was transported in stable condition to the Owen King EU Hospital.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the motive behind the attack, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
