Odsan resident Noah Mathurin, 47, was sentenced to eight years in prison on Monday by a high court judge after being found guilty of multiple firearm-related offenses.
Mathurin was convicted of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of Ammunition. His arrest occurred on September 16, 2024, during a police operation.
During the same operation, officers also arrested 32-year-old Yannick Gustave, also known as “Tiny,” of Odsan. Authorities discovered an arsenal of illegal weapons and ammunition, including:
One (1) assault rifle with a magazine and nineteen (19) rounds of 5.56 ammunition.
One (1) 9mm pistol with a magazine and thirty-four (34) rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Six (6) 12-gauge rounds.
Three (3) rounds of .380 ammunition.
On Tuesday, September 17, 2024, both Mathurin and Gustave were each charged with one (1) count of Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, one (1) count of Possession of a Firearm, and four (4) counts of Possession of Ammunition.
Authorities have not disclosed further details of the operation leading to the arrests. However, law enforcement officials have reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal firearm possession in the country.
Mathurin’s sentencing underscores the judiciary’s stance on firearm offenses as authorities continue efforts to combat gun-related crimes.
