Constitution Park Not Sold, Says Pierre

Must Read

Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, at Monday’s pre-cabinet presser, denied claims that the land where Constitution Park is was sold to a private developer. These claims come as the government revisits the Halls of Justice Project. Pierre said these claims are easily refutable, as citizens can confirm the owner of the property at the Registry of Lands.

“Selling land is not like buying a pair of shoes at S&S. Anybody who sells land is registered in the registry. I will say nothing about that. I want to invite the members of the press, all the surrogates, to go to the registry and say who owns Constitution Park,” Pierre said in response to media queries.

Pierre also provided an update on the progress of works on the Halls of Justice Project, which he says will be moved to an adjacent lot across Laborie Street. He said the government will purchase the property so that it remains in the hands of the state.

“The government decided that after discussion with the Catholic Church, we would move the building from where it is and move it to the other side of the building. In that case, we would have to occupy the plot of land that Mr. Adjodha had. That was not a secret,” Pierre disclosed.

The Prime Minister noted that negotiations are ongoing with the landowners regarding the final cost of the property.

Meanwhile, Block 0848D and Parcel 223 remain Crown land, as recorded in the Land Registry.
