Social media was abuzz Friday as NBA legend Michael Jordan’s private jet, a Gulfstream G650ER, landed at Hewanorra International Airport. The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) confirmed his arrival in a Facebook post Friday evening.

Jordan, a six-time NBA champion widely regarded as the greatest basketball player of all time, follows the recent visits of fellow NBA champions Ray Allen and J.R. Smith, who were on the island last month golfing at Cabot Saint Lucia. The course is considered one of the best in the region.

“World-renowned former NBA superstar Michael Jordan touched down in Saint Lucia earlier today, sending waves of excitement across the island,” the SLTA stated. “Meanwhile, the island’s stunning Pitons are also serving as the backdrop for another high-profile figure – prolific boxer Jake Paul. Known for his controversial persona both inside and outside the ring, Paul’s presence in Saint Lucia adds to the growing buzz surrounding the destination.”

There has been no official word on the purpose of Jordan’s visit.
