Au Lyon, Dennery – Early morning commuters faced delays on Sunday March 16th as residents of Au Lyon staged a protest, blocking the main roadway in frustration over the slow progress of rehabilitation works in the community.
The demonstration, reminiscent of last week’s protest in Roseau, saw residents voicing their anger over what they describe as prolonged neglect of critical infrastructure. Amateur footage circulating online captures residents passionately expressing their grievances, demanding immediate action from authorities.
Upon receiving reports of the roadway being obstructed, a team of police officers from the Richfond Police Station responded to the scene and successfully cleared the road. However, residents insisted that their actions were necessary to draw attention to the dire state of the road and the urgent need for repairs.
Richfond police have since announced their intention to follow up with a visit to the location today Monday March 17th to assess the situation further.
Community members continue to call for a clear timeline on the completion of roadworks and a firm commitment from officials to address their concerns.
