Workers Stage Strike Over Backpay Dispute and Contract Changes

Must Read

Frustration has reached a boiling point as employees from Acado, formerly known as Peter & Company Distribution downed tools on Monday March 3rd in an apparent protest over claims of a long-standing backpay dispute and proposed changes to their employment contracts.

A source alleges that for the past few years, workers have been in negotiations to secure overdue payments, but a recent development has sparked widespread outrage. Employees claim they are now being told that backpay will only be granted if they agree to new employment terms. Claims are that the proposed contract would require them to work any five out of seven days, replacing their current structured schedule of Monday to Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

According to sources close to the negotiations, this ultimatum has left workers feeling coerced into accepting unfavorable terms in exchange for money they have already earned.

Efforts to reach company representatives for comment have been unsuccessful.
