Must Read

In a significant development for the Mountain View community in Piat, the Residents and Homeowners Association held its Annual General Meeting on Sunday March 2nd, electing a dynamic new executive team poised to steer the community towards continued growth and prosperity over the next two years.

The association remains integral in championing a safe, vibrant, and inclusive environment that benefits both residents and visitors.

Re-elected to lead the charge is President Asnia Ste Marie-Simba, who highlighted the remarkable achievements of the past administration.

Under her leadership, the association successfully implemented the majority of its planned projects and initiatives, setting a high standard for community engagement and development.

Reflecting on the multitude of accomplishments, Ste Marie-Simba proudly detailed key initiatives such as the provision of scholarship opportunities for students within the community, which has been pivotal in empowering the next generation. Additionally, the association launched a hamper drive, where residents generously donated grocery items to support the vulnerable and less fortunate, showcasing the community’s spirit of solidarity and compassion.

Moreover, the executive team introduced essential safety programs, including First Aid and CPR training for at least one member of each household, conducted by a certified EMS instructor. This initiative has equipped residents with crucial lifesaving skills and heightened preparedness in emergency situations.

The association also collaborated with the Gros Islet District Disaster Preparedness Committee to launch a comprehensive disaster preparedness program. This initiative educated residents on hazards, emergency response strategies, and the importance of identifying vulnerable populations, further reinforcing the community’s resilience.

In addition to these achievements, the association improved road safety by installing convex mirrors and street signs and enhanced security with strategically placed surveillance cameras throughout the community.

“I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished over the last two years,” Ste Marie-Simba stated passionately. “Our commitment to transparency and tireless work has led to meaningful improvements for every resident in our community.”

The newly elected executive team, ready to build on these successes, includes Vice President Kingson Jean, Treasurer Leo Lionel, Secretary Teresa Emmanuel, Public Relations Officer Geannine Aimable-Phillips, and Floor Members Ruth McFarlane and Monica Modeste.
