Castries, Saint Lucia – With safety and security being crucial to the success of Saint Lucia’s tourism industry, the Saint Lucia Hospitality and Tourism Association (SLHTA) and key private sector partners are welcoming proactive measures by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF) to strengthen security in business and tourism hubs.
On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, senior representatives from the RSLPF, SLHTA, Chamber of Commerce, Manufacturers’ Association, Rodney Bay Association, and the Vacation Rentals Association held a high-level meeting to address urgent security concerns affecting businesses and the tourism sector.

The discussions centered on critical issues raised by business operators in Rodney Bay and surrounding areas, including increased police presence, better community patrols, measures to address loitering and harassment, the reopening and operational efficiency of the Rodney Bay Police Station, improved traffic management, street lighting enhancements, and noise pollution control. The meeting also tackled manpower and resource constraints that limit the effectiveness of security efforts.
Business owners and tourism operators emphasized the growing impact of crime on visitor satisfaction, financial stability, and overall business operations. Crimes affecting tourists not only damage Saint Lucia’s reputation but also create ripple effects on investment and employment.
The meeting reinforced a commitment to collaboration, with law enforcement and the private sector working together to develop sustainable solutions that enhance safety, protect investments, support youth development programs, and uphold Saint Lucia’s status as a premier travel destination.
A joint working group will now oversee the implementation of key action points, ensuring that progress is made in addressing security challenges.
