A deadly shooting in White Rock, Grande Riviere, Gros Islet, has left residents shaken after a man was gunned down late Tuesday night.
The victim, identified as Wendell Edward, was shot multiple times around 10 p.m. and rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Residents who spoke to Saint Lucia Daily Post recalled the terrifying moment when rapid gunfire shattered the night’s silence.
“It was so loud, for a second I thought it was coming from my home,” one resident recounted. Another, still visibly shaken, added, “I still have goosebumps and have not slept yet.”
The incident has deeply unsettled the normally peaceful community. “Our community is quiet. We don’t hear or experience these types of things here. It’s just disturbing,” another resident, who requested anonymity, shared.
Edward’s killing marks the 11th homicide in Saint Lucia this year, with an alarming eight recorded in February alone. Authorities are currently on the scene, gathering evidence and piecing together their investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack.
