Desruisseaux Man Killed in Ambush: Investigation Underway

Must Read

The Micoud Police are investigating a shooting incident in Desruisseaux that resulted in the death of one man. Irvin Nicky Brendon Ferdinand, a resident of the community, was shot multiple times on Tuesday evening while making his way home.

According to relatives who spoke to the Saint Lucia Daily Post, Irvin had spent the day at a friend’s house grating coconuts, as he often did. Around 8 pm, he left to take a shorter route home when he was ambushed and shot. He sustained a gunshot wound to his shoulder, with the remaining shots aimed at his head.

“He was a kind and jovial individual, always helping people in the community, especially the elderly,” a relative, who requested anonymity, said. “He was a labourer who helped keep the community clean, and he didn’t deserve this.”

Ferdinand had previously been the victim of a violent cutlass attack by five individuals who robbed him and left him for dead several years ago. He survived the incident and became involved in a legal matter against his attackers, many of whom have since passed away. The legal case recently concluded, with Ferdinand set to receive compensation for the attack.

Relatives have expressed suspicion that the recent shooting could be linked to the previous assault.

Saint Lucia has to date recorded six homicides for the year.

No further details have been released at this time.
