SAINT LUCIA, February 13, 2024 – In a major step toward supporting higher education, Saint Lucia Cruise Port, in partnership with Global Ports Holding, has unveiled the Saint Lucia Cruise Port Scholarship, offering full financial support for two Saint Lucian students to pursue undergraduate degrees abroad. The scholarship will cover tuition, airfare, accommodation, books, and meals for up to four years at any accredited university in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, or a University of the West Indies campus.
The announcement was made at a formal ceremony attended by key government officials, including Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture, and Information, Honorable Dr. Ernest Hilaire. Other dignitaries included Dr. Pauline Antoine-Prospere, Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Tourism Ms. Donalyn Vittet, and representatives from Saint Lucia Air and Sea Ports Authority.
Dr. Hilaire praised the initiative, emphasizing the transformative impact it will have on local students. “Saint Lucia Cruise Port is creating a path for our youth to succeed in their chosen fields of study. This initiative will help many turn their dreams into reality,” he stated. Dr. Antoine-Prospere echoed this sentiment, highlighting the scholarship’s potential to unlock opportunities for talented students who need financial support.
Lancelot Arnold, General Manager of Saint Lucia Cruise Port, expressed pride in launching the scholarship program, reinforcing the company’s commitment to investing in the island’s future leaders. “We understand the value of education and the importance of providing opportunities for young people to achieve their goals.
